20 year 6 pupils and their parents enjoyed a day visit to the University of the West of England (UWE) on 17th and 18th May. Children enjoyed learning about university lifestyle and studies. Parents were impressed by the facilities and the trip got them thinking about their children’s long term futures.
During our RE day, the children designed their own Rangoli patterns which is used to decorate the home of Hindus during the Navratri festival. As some light relief from our SATs revision, we recreated these patterns using chalk on our playground. Unfortunately the rain washed them away over the next weekend.
Anglo-Saxons vs. Vikings
During term 3, Year 6 studied the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings and how they came to settle in England. The children were given a speaking and listening task as part of their English lessons: to re-enact a Viking invasion on an Anglo-Saxon village. The photographs show the two tribes ready for action and the video shows the what followed.
To bring the science topic of light and electricity to an end, the children were challenged to direct a beam of light through a maze in order to hit the given target. The photographs show 6NBr working hard in small groups to design and complete their light mazes.
